About Us

Founded in 1962, the Frinton Residents’ Association (FRA) is a voluntary, non-political organisation dedicated to representing the interests of Frinton-on-Sea residents. We work collaboratively with elected Councillors, local authorities, Essex Police, NEPP (North Essex Parking Partnership) and community groups to address issues affecting the town and to help preserve its unique character.

The Committee

The FRA Committee currently comprises nine members, including Officers and elected representatives. All members volunteer their time to support the Association’s aims and serve the local community.

Officers

  • President: Alan Eldret (Planning & Town Council Representative)
  • Chairman: Dave Hamilton (Parking, Environment, Pavements, Potholes)
  • Vice Chairman: Clint Strutt (Membership, Patient Participation Group)
  • Honorary Secretary: Kay English
  • Honorary Treasurer: Michael Talbot

Elected Representatives

  • Jane Northover – Seafront, Dog Watch, Horses
  • Gillian Sanford – Frinton in Bloom representative
  • Penny Everett – Projects
  • Ken Daniels – Retail & Shop Liaison

If you are a Frinton resident and would like to join the Committee, please contact us. A member of the Committee will be in touch to discuss opportunities.

Committee Responsibilities

It is essential that all committee members take on a specific role, and possess a basic working knowledge of IT.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Attending meetings of other local groups and reporting back on relevant issues
  • Liaising with planners, Council Officers, and elected Councillors
  • Monitoring local concerns and helping to progress matters where appropriate

This collaborative approach ensures the FRA remains informed and responsive to the evolving needs of the community.

Local Aims and Objectives

The FRA is committed to:

  • Raising local issues with elected Councillors and relevant authorities
  • Supporting voluntary groups and community initiatives
  • Preserving Frinton’s distinctive environment
  • Backing local businesses and advocating for improved facilities for young people
  • Monitoring and reporting on parking, congestion, and speeding issues
  • Responding to community concerns with either targeted action or broader engagement, depending on complexity

National Engagement

The FRA is affiliated with the National Organisation of Residents’ Associations and supports its broader objectives:

  • Promoting the shared interests of residents across towns and cities in England
  • Providing a platform for member associations to voice concerns
  • Highlighting developments that may impact quality of life
  • Representing residents in dialogue with local, regional, and national bodies
  • Monitoring major issues such as planning, licensing, cultural activities, community safety, and policing
